Sleep, Wellness & Breast Cancer Awareness
Research suggests that sleep and the body’s internal clock may play a role in overall health and cancer risk. Sleep helps regulate hormones, immune function, and metabolic processes. Disruptions to the body’s circadian rhythm, particularly long-term night-shift work, have been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as probably carcinogenic to humans. However, the relationship between sleep duration, sleep quality, and breast cancer risk is complex, and research has not established that improving sleep directly prevents breast cancer.
Prioritize your well-being by maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, and aiming for 7–9 hours of sleep each night as an adult. Certain herbs, such as chamomile, lemon balm, lavender, valerian root, soursop leaf, and more, are traditionally used to support relaxation and restful sleep, although scientific evidence for their effectiveness varies.
The Herb Corner offers herbs and natural wellness products to complement your self-care routine. Remember, herbs and healthy sleep habits are not substitutes for recommended cancer screenings, medical advice, or evidence-based treatment.
